I'M SAMMY HOWARD, LPC

I know asking for help can be hard but finding the right therapist for you can make it easier

If you are looking at how you and your loved ones are handling emotions and you realize that you want to make a change, you are not alone and help is out there! Imagine getting back to finding happiness and letting go of worries.

You can have a more peaceful home, help your child feel happier, and you can feel connected as a family again. You’ll feel empowered knowing that you and your child have the skills to manage emotions, process stress, and resolve conflict as a team. Imagine having a caring person there to guide you through this process.

Changing how you feel is hard, but we can work together to change thoughts and actions to help everyone in your family feel better. Together we can find ways to label and change the patterns you are stuck in. I will give you tools to use between sessions and help you develop a plan to reach your goals. I can’t wait to support your family’s journey!

Life is hard, and none of us make it through unscathed. Even when everything is going right being in a family is also hard. I am here to be a companion with you and your family on your journey. My goal is to help you find ways to make the journey easier. I primarily work with clients experiencing anxiety to change the soundtracks that play in their head to more functional thought patterns. I also believe problems don’t happen in a vacuum so take a family systems approach to work with children and adolescents. I have a long history of working with trauma, anxiety, and acting out behaviors as well as substance abuse. I take a very collaborative approach to services acting as a guide going with though through the journey instead of an expert telling you what to do. Every family is different and there is no one size fits all answer to how long services will last. I’m here to help find an easier way for you to reach your goals. The best way to get the most out of services is to use the tools between sessions.

BEYOND THE THERAPY OFFICE

I am LGBTQ+ Competent and Neurodiversity Affirming. I served on the PFLAG Norman Board of Directors for 6 years. In my time outside of the office, I love reading books. In fact, those who know me joke that "I was reading this book and..." should be my catch phrase! I love to be outside going on adventures both big and small including hiking, camping, and scuba diving. Cooking is my number one creative outlet. I love to spend time with my family like going to the park with my son or going for a drive with my husband. I have two dogs, and two foster pot-belly pigs. I love to learn new things.
